Liability Limit on Noneconomic Damages for Medical Malpractice

OSBM is required by G.S. 90-21.19 to reset the limit on damages for noneconomic losses related to medical malpractice on January 1 of every third year beginning with January 1, 2014.

The rate as of January 1, 2023 is $656,730. See the related guidance issued by the state budget director.

The prior rate was $562,338 as of January 1, 2020.
