Office of State Budget and Management (OSBM) employees Jack Gagnon and Cameron Brown received the 2023 Governor’s Award for Excellence, the highest honor given to a state employee for dedicated service to the state of North Carolina and its residents. The award ceremony was held on October 24.
Cameron and Jack were honored with the Efficiency and Innovation in Government honor for their work developing and supporting a data tool state agencies use to monitor purchasing card (Pcard) transactions. State agencies use the dashboard tool to review large amounts of data, identify patterns, and spot potential misuse or fraud. Cameron and Jack have honed the tool to fit agencies’ needs and provided ongoing training and support to users to support adoption.
“I am delighted that Jack and Cameron have been recognized by the state for their work,” said State Budget Director Kristin Walker. “The impact of the dashboard, and their perseverance in helping agencies understand how to apply this tool to improve oversight and internal controls, shows the commitment to problem-solving and improving how we operate that makes me proud to be part of state government.”
Cameron is an Information Technology Auditor with OSBM and is a Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Information Systems Auditor, and Certified Fraud Examiner. He has been with OSBM for nearly four years following several years as an auditor at other state agencies. Jack is a Senior Internal Auditor who has been with OSBM for nearly eight years.
