The North Carolina Council of Internal Auditing has selected Derek Allred, Chief Audit Officer for the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, as the 2022 Internal Audit Award of Excellence recipient.
Mr. Allred holds professional certifications in internal auditing (CIA), information systems auditing (CISA), fraud examination (CFE) and risk management assurance (CRMA). He’s been a strong advocate for internal auditing in the state, serving on cross-division task forces and offering his expertise on peer reviews. He has helped his agency become more efficient with the adoption of internal auditing technology and served to help the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services manage compliance for American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grants and contracts.
The Council of Internal Auditing Award of Excellence expresses appreciation to an internal auditor or an internal audit team who has made significant contributions and achievements in internal auditing and service to the state of North Carolina. Award nominees must demonstrate extraordinary efforts in dedication, contribution, and innovation in internal auditing field.
The award was presented at the 2022 North Carolina Office of State Controller’s Financial Conference in December.
