North Carolina’s State Demographer, Dr. Michael Cline, has been elected to the Steering Committee for the Federal-State Cooperative for Population Estimates (FSCPE). Dr. Cline is one of four FSCPE Steering Committee members elected by their colleagues from across the nation.
The FSCPE is a partnership between state governments and the U.S. Census Bureau to ensure highest quality population and housing estimates. The FSCPE prepares annual subnational population estimates, helps ensure the highest-quality data review, considers improved techniques and methodologies, and fosters communication and joint research between local population experts and the U.S. Census Bureau.
As a member of the seven-person Steering Committee, Dr. Cline will help determine priorities and coordinate activities of the FSCPE.
“I am honored to be elected to the FSCPE Steering Committee by my peers and look forward to continuing work with my peers to advance the quality of population data through intergovernmental cooperation,” said Dr. Cline following his election.
